Administrative and Curatorial Assistant
Eptek Art & Culture Centre
Department of Economic Growth, Tourism and Culture
Location: Summerside
Temporary Full-Time Position

(Commencing October 2019 for 1 Year)
This position is the primary day-to-day public contact person for visitors to the Eptek Art and Culture Centre.  Assisting the Site Manager, the incumbent will carry out functions required to develop and produce quality exhibitions, programs, and related activities, and will include evening and weekend work.  Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with the installation of exhibits, including planning programs, receiving and shipping, security, interpretation of exhibits, maintaining files, publicity, and preparing condition reports;
  • Greeting visitors (phone and in-person), introducing the exhibits, answering inquiries, and conducting tours;
  • Assisting the Site Manager with grant applications;
  • Preparing purchase orders for payables;
  • Maintaining and balancing petty cash;
  • Preparing cash deposits and revenue reports;
  • Preparing invoices and following up on receivables;
  • Ensuring all transactions are copied to head office:
  • Preparing office correspondence, loan forms, activity lists and calendars, exhibition labels, as well as public relations and social media material;
  • Maintaining and updating filing system;
  • Carrying out tasks on behalf of the Friends of Eptek volunteer group, including maintaining the mailing list, preparing correspondence, financial reporting, and preparing special event flyers;
  • Ordering and maintaining adequate office supplies:
  • Assisting researchers as required;
  • Maintaining and balancing gift shop inventory;
  • Carrying out public program set-up/hospitality;
  • Carrying out light housekeeping; and
  • Other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education, preferably a university degree, with studies in arts, history or related field.
  • Experience with providing exceptional customer and/or client service.
  • Experience working in an art/culture/heritage setting.
  • Demonstrated equivalencies will be considered.
  • Microsoft Word, Corel Office software including word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Access to reliable transportation.
  • The successful applicant must provide a satisfactory Criminal Records Check prior to beginning employment.

Other Qualifications:

Bilingualism would be considered an asset.

Salary Range: $21.12 – $24.00 per hour (Level 10)
Bi-Weekly Hours: 75 hours bi-weekly / days / evenings & weekends as required
