Food Prep and Barista

Job Description:

Now n Zen Cafe is seeking an employee who speaks great English (French an asset) is motivated, and has great customer services skills. Looking for a 19+ responsible, fun, energetic staff to work part-time to full-time day hours (30+ hrs/week) at this unique café in Stratford, just across the Hillsborough bridge. Great communication skills are required, previous service industry experience an asset, especially work as a Barista. Willing to train the right person.

Duties

• Cash handling / POS transactions
• Food and beverage preparation and handling
• Cleaning Café and restocking items for next shift/staff
• Serving and describing menu items
• Posting specials and pictures on Facebook and Instagram
• Keyholder responsibilities and working alone at times
• Ensuring all allergies and special requests are managed
• Ensuring all guests are welcomed and served efficiently
• Keeping track of stock
• Balancing cash at end of day

Requirements:

• Now n Zen desires a 19+candidate with previous service experience in a cafe environment and food knowledge, with an appreciation for details and passion for customer service
• Applicants must have, or acquire, the PEI Food Safety Handling Course and the Responsible Beverage Service course
• Self-motivation in learning how to best prepare various coffee and tea based drinks and food efficiently

Now n Zen support local farmers, butchers, bread-makers and bakers. We offer a selection of organic and fair-trade coffee that is roasted right here on PEI by Caledonia Coffee House and Receiver Coffee. We have the largest selection of tea at a Cafe on PEI. Locally baked bread, daily soups, fresh baked goods, and sweet selections are served daily.
