Job Description:
Summary of Duties:
Under the direction of the Quality Assurance Manager:
- Obtains and analyzes in-process and finished product samples for conformance to product specifications
- Accurately records all required information and promptly informs supervisors / manager of results
- Maintains laboratory inventory and supplies for analytical methods
- Involved in the development and implementation of new laboratory methods and procedures.
- Other duties as required
Education:
- Minimum grade 12 – preference given to individuals with post secondary education, ie. diploma or degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology or related field.
Experience:
- Laboratory experience an asset. Knowledgeable in the safe handling of chemicals and laboratory protocols.
- Food processing experience desirable. Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), food safety and quality systems an asset.
Skills:
- Highly organized with the ability to work in a changing environment while maintaining proficiency, accuracy and meeting department goals, priorities and deadlines.
- Team player with a positive attitude and strong communication skills
- Able to handle stress and take responsibility for actions
- Cost efficient use of company materials and resources
Work Hours:
- 12 hr days/ nights, shift work.
