REPORTING TO: Food & Beverage Manager / Assistant Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for taking customers orders for Food and Beverage, making recommendation regarding the menu and informing customers of daily specials

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Escorting customers to tables,
  • Taking customers orders,
  • Monitoring customers needs,
  • Suggest popular items and personal favorites, if asked; suggest add-ons: offer items that complement one another, e.g., gravy with French fries,
  • Report potential hazards to supervisor, for example: wobbly chairs and tables; splintered or rough surfaces; torn carpet or loose floor tiles; inadequate or burned out lighting; faulty equipment,
  • Find out if (customers) have special dietary needs ,
  • Use point-of-sales system; follow manufacturer’s instructions to: sign in; confirm system has been cleared and date is correct; process guest checks; sign out,
  • Use of specialized restaurant Point of Sale software to place food orders, tally purchases and generate customers’ bills
  • Read instruction sheets for credit card authorizations,
  • Read policies concerning punctuality and grooming ,
  • Read and understand manuals, such as manuals for touch screen ordering and billing software,
  • Does side work during non-busy hours,
  • Identifies food orders when ready and delivers items to tables in a timely manner,
  • Maintains a professional appearance at all times,
  • Reports to work as scheduled, in uniform, and ready to be in position,
  • Follows checklists and standard operating procedures,
  • Maintains a safe, clean, organized, and stocked work area,
  • Maintains full knowledge of menus, recipes, and other pertinent information,
  • Constantly increasing knowledge of food, beverages, and other products and services,
  • Punches clock in full uniform, ready to work, and no earlier than five minutes prior to shift
  • Accept gratuity graciously and thank guest, regardless of amount of gratuity
  • Dealing with any problems or customers complaints,
  • Setting tables in accordance with the hotel standards,
  • Clearing tables throughout the dining experience using proper methods for removing dishes, glassware and silverware,
  • Provide Food and Beverage services to guests using good customer service skills. The goal is to exceed guest expectations,
  • Cleaning Banquet and dining rooms during and after dining experience,
  • Giving personal attention, taking personal responsibility and using teamwork when providing guest services,
  • Listening, apologizing with empathy, finding a solution and following through, when resolving guest problems,
  • Assuming the responsibilities to notice when guest is not satisfied and using best judgment as to when it is appropriate to use the 100% guest satisfaction guarantee,
  • Fostering trust and cooperation among coworkers and customers; developing and sustaining personal contact in order to provide mutual benefit.

Scheduled working hours:

Part-Time ( 10-16) hours per week

Physical, mental and visual:

This position requires prolonged sitting, standing, stooping, bending and reaching; physical excursion to manually move, lift, carry, pull or push heavy objects or materials. It involves handling materials of intense heat or extreme cold and working with dish washing liquids and powders, solvents and other cleaning chemicals.
