Job Description:

Slemon Park is a Business and Residential Community with a focus on Aerospace, Manufacturing, Training, and Real Estate Development. The purpose of Slemon Park Corporation, as a provincial crown corporation, is to create wealth and jobs in Prince Edward Island by leveraging the assets of Slemon Park and facilitating strategic private and public sector economic development investments in aerospace, training, and real estate development.

The General Accountant will report to the Controller. Under the guidance of Controller, the Accountant will prepare reports and analysis for the President, the VP of Property Management, the Residential Housing Manager, the Accommodations Manager, and the Food and Beverage Manager.

SPC is a medium sized corporation. Therefore, employees are required to be flexible in assuming responsibility, work independently and completing tasks. This can be both challenging and rewarding. Responsibilities

The General Accountant will have responsibility for the following areas:

The billing and collection of residential and commercial rents.
Revenue and cost analysis related to the Corporation’s portfolio of commercial and residential properties and related operations;
Assisting with the annual budgeting process;
Assist with the preparation of schedules and documents to support invoices to external parties related to construction projects.
Cost claims related to funding agreements.
The preparation of schedules and documents to support miscellaneous invoices for cost reimbursements.
The compilation of documentation to support loan drawdowns.
Tracking and analysis of capital costs and intercompany cost transfers; and
Assisting with other accounting duties and analysis.
Qualifications

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS

Education and Training

This position requires a strong working knowledge of accounting and administrative processes. Ideally, the candidate will be a graduate from a university or college and will be enrolled in the CPA program.

Experience

5 years of experience in an accounting and administrative environment.

Skills and Knowledge

Proficient with Microsoft Office, Excel and accounting and point of sales software programs, strong organizational and analytical skills, and an ability to pay close attention to details on a consistent basis.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Working Hours

37.5 hours per week. Monday through Friday.

Physical, Mental and Visual

This position requires the ability to meet tight deadlines under pressure and must possess strong organizational and verbal/written communication skills, exhibit leadership, and the ability to think strategically. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary – $42,501 to $47,500
