Job Description:

Overview:

The Employment Assistance Services (EAS) Coordinator leads a team of employment counsellors who support newcomers seeking jobs. The Coordinator provides overall direction to the EAS team; supervises their daily work; liaises with employers and government as required. The Coordinator reports to the Executive Director.

 

Duties include, but not limited to:

  • Develops and implements newcomer employment assistance programs and services, in consultation with team members and the Executive Director.
  • Manages the team and individual team members.
  • Assists in the establishment of procedures and practices to meet PEIANC objectives.
  • Chairs regular team meetings.
  • Plans and manages the EAS budget; administers and controls purchases in relation to the program; seeks additional funding for special projects.
  • Organizes and facilitates meetings with outside committees, departments, agencies, community groups, and other service providers as related to the advancement of their team’s objectives and programs.
  • Delivers timely reports on issues, trends, successes, and challenges related to the operations of their team and program, including considerations for possible future decisions and directions.
  • Assists in the hiring process when requested to do so by the Executive Director.
  • Reviews all relevant aspects of service delivery contracts and/or projects with respect to: (1) deliverables and outcomes, (2) timelines, (3) terms and conditions, and (4) reporting obligations.
  • Responsible for the training, supervision, and performance management of all team members regarding deliverables and outcomes of service delivery contracts. Ensure team members understand policies and procedures in relation to their job duties and roles as defined in their employment contracts and terms and conditions of service delivery contribution agreements.
  • Determine needs for professional development and make such recommendations to the Executive Director.
  • Works with other team coordinators and the Executive Director supporting the overall management of the Association.

 

Education and Training:

  • University degree or college diploma.
  • Experience as an employment counsellor or career counsellor.
  • Experience in a supervisory or management role.

 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Fluent with Microsoft Office suite, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with public speaking and event organization.
  • Additional language would be an asset.
  • Valid driver’s licence.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment.
  • 37.5 hours per week.
  • May involve occasional evening and/or weekend work.
  • Travel to different parts of the Province as needed.
