Job Description:
Are you a business student looking for a challenge this summer? We’re looking for a dynamic self-starter to join our team as Assistant Manager for our seasonal stores at Peake’s Quay on the Charlottetown waterfront. Duties will include:
- Preparing both stores (Peake’s and Cavendish) for opening (ordering internet and security system hook-ups)
- Set up and merchandising for both stores
- Inventory tracking, control and reports for Peake’s Quay
- Scheduling, managing and motivating staff
- Submitting staff hours for payroll
- Reconciling cash and making bank deposits
- Ensuring custom orders are logged in properly for timely creation
- Creating cashflow and sales forecasts
- Managing Point of Sales system
- Working with online/social media coordinator on ideas for sales (BOGOS), promotions, contesting and involvement in free, co-op and paid advertising/promotion opportunities
- Working with online/social media coordinator on customer retention strategies
- Attending Merchant Association meetings
- Organizing pop-up shop opportunities
The successful candidate will be reliable, bondable, excellent with details, able to provide exceptional customer service and quick to learn new skills. Reliable transportation is a MUST. Most work will be in Charlottetown, however the occasional shift in Cavendish may be required. Experience in retail, hospitality and/or customer service environment preferred. Creativity is a plus as there will be opportunities to help with the design and manufacturing process. Willing to train the right candidate. There will be lots of opportunities to learn and on-going mentoring provided. Sales commission on top of base salary provided. We’re hoping to be able to provide part-time opportunities throughout the school year.
