About the Role

Dock Worker Assistant
Part-time
Charlottetown, PEI

How You’ll Help

·         As a dock worker assistant, you are responsible for ensuring proper, safe and timely handling of inbound and outbound freight.  The successful candidate must ensure they maintain a clean work environment with a focus on protecting the customer’s freight from damage through proper handling techniques.

Your Skills & Experience:

·         Moving and handling large and cumbersome freight in a dock environment (50-75 lbs)
·         Operating a Forklift in congested areas
·         Creating and Arriving APPT/Storage manifests
·         P&D manifesting
·         Supporting dock supervisors
·         Filtering E-mails
·         Locating misplaced freight/OS&D
·         Planning for next day’s work
·         Other tasks as needed by dock supervisors
·         Minimum Grade 12; post-secondary education in office administration an asset
·         1-3 years administration/customer service experience
·         Experience with AS400 and/or in the transportation industry a strong asset
·         Forklift Certification
·         Previous cross dock and/or warehouse experience is an asset
·         Strong computer skills, especially MS Word, Excel and Outlook.  AS400 experience a strong asset
·         Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
·         Organized and able to multitask and prioritize
·         Safety-minded
·         English. French not required but an asset
