Reporting to the Dance Program Manager, the Performing Arts Camp Instructor works closely with the Dance Program Manager to ensure the successful delivery of the Centre’s summer camp programs. Performing Arts Camps introduce campers to a variety of artistic disciplines. Instructors are responsible for delivering safe, fun, and educational experiences for our campers, ages 5-17. This is a full-time seasonal position (37.5 hours/week) from June 29 – August 28, 2026.
Duties of the Performing Arts Camp Instructor will include, but are not limited to:
- Supervising campers while in the care of Confederation Centre of the Arts
- Delivering fun and engaging lessons in various mediums of Performing Arts including, but not limited to: drama, dance, music (instrumental and/or voice)
- Teaching activities to camp participants
- Coordinate and collaborate with other instructors
- On-going communications with parents, students, fellow instructors, and administrators
- Assist with weekly showcase (preparation and clean up)
- Studio organization
- Other duties as required
The ideal candidate will have:
- Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision and prioritize efficiently
- Previous experience working with or supervising children
- Experience in various Performing Arts mediums
- Must be confident in instructing Performing Arts classes
- Must have, or be willing to get a vulnerable sector check
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; English essential
- Positive attitude, patient, empathetic
- Detail oriented
Priority will be given to candidates who meet the following criteria:
- Be between 18 and 30 when they start employment;
- Entitled to work in Canada;
- Enrolled in a post-secondary institution for the Fall;
- Living on the Island (Island resident) and attending a PEI post-secondary institution for school this fall.
The following qualifications would be considered an asset:
- Bilingualism (French/English), and/or other languages (e.g. Mandarin)
- Experience in multiple areas of Performing Arts (dance, theatre, music, etc)
- Post-secondary training in Performing Arts/Fine Arts
- Ability to play a musical instrument (piano, guitar, etc.)
- First Aid/CPR training
