Job Description:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Counselors are responsible for up to 3 campers during work time (ratios will switch throughout the day)
- Continually encourage and keep campers active and engaged in fun and challenging activities that meet camper’s needs while maintaining a safe environment
- Follow direction from management, supervisors and health care workers
- Follow and execute activities according to pre-designed daily programming plans
- Provide personal care and dietary assistance to campers
- Follow all camp policies and procedures
- Counselors have cleaning duties that must be performed during and after camp
- Responsible to assist in properly lifting/transfer campers
- Interacting with campers and providing a fun camp experience
- Work in a team environment
- Administrative duties, as required
Qualifications:
- Clear Criminal Background Check required
- Must be over 18 years of age
- Being a post-secondary student or graduate from a post-secondary institution and/or certificate in related field would be an asset (i.e.: Human Services or Educational Assistant)
- Must have experience working with people with disabilities
- Working in a camp environment an asset
- Post-Secondary Student an asset
- Post -Secondary Student in Human Services or Resident Care Worker an asset
- First Aid and CPR required before job begins
- Meals and accommodations are provided for all campers and staff
- Must be available for overnight weekend camps, day camps and summer months.
