Job Description:

Innovation PEI, Charlottetown, PE

Full-Time, Permanent Position (Commencing Immediately)

Innovation PEI (IPEI) is seeking an individual to assist in the overall strategic planning and development of global trade initiatives which will support PEI Export companies.  Reporting to the Director of the Global Trade Services Division, this individual will be responsible for the following duties:

 

Client Specific / Industry – Outreach

-fully engage with client and industry associations (IPEI Business Development Officers) across all sectors

-gain valuable input from clients; trade opportunities, concerns, market interest, and relevant business

-conduct market research with clients/industry to evaluate export opportunities/market development

-gather/assess client and industry input to assist in strategic planning of global trade initiatives

-liaise with government agencies, private sector, and international partners to stay current on export opportunities

-collaborate with other government and industry to leverage/maximize PEI export efforts

 

Research/Intelligence Gathering

-monitor reports/updates /activities from federal/provincial /private trade partners for possible collaboration

-assess valuable fact based input that could assist in strategic planning of trade priorities

-evaluate client feedback   “needs to succeed” and assist to customize client specific export plans accordingly

 

Market Development

-research (validate) potential growing markets and product / services for market development

-collaborate with Global Affairs/Trade Commissioners

-evaluate in market intelligence/opportunity for future development

 

Trade Promotion/Communication

-assist in development (content) and coordination of trade activities

-participate in trade initiatives as required (information workshops/industry outreach/trade missions)

-collaborate with IPEI marketing to create/communicate trade promotion/activities across all platforms

-assist with development of communication platform to better inform / update PEI exporters

 

Minimum Qualifications

·       Applicants must have a business or related university degree

·       Considerable (3-5 years) experience in sales and marketing

·       Considerable (3-5 years) experience in strategic planning, research and analysis

·       Preference will be given to candidates who have international business development experience

·       Demonstrated equivalencies will be considered

·       Strong oral and written communication skills and good public speaking and presentation skills

·       Strong computer knowledge in word processing, spreadsheet applications and internet research

·       Strong organizational and time management skills – ability to manage several different projects at one time

·       Strong research and analytical skills and ability to interpret, analyze and present data

·       Ability to work within assigned budgets and prepare budgets

·       Reliable transportation for client visits on Island

·       Ability for some travel for trade initiatives (abroad) as required

 

Other Qualifications

·       Fluency in a second language would be considered an asset

·       Knowledge of the leading economic sectors in Prince Edward Island would be an asset

 

Salary Range:    Commensurate with education and experience
