Staff Accountant

Job Description:

Are you looking for a career opportunity with a growing and fast paced locally owned company? We are a family owned and operated transportation company that has an immediate opening for a newly created position as our Staff Accountant.

You will report directly to the Vice President of Finance and our Senior Accountant, and as the successful candidate, will demonstrate the potential to work independently and grow with our company.

Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

• Account analysis and reconciliations such as for fuel purchases, repairs & maintenance, operating expenses, and various other accounts as required
• Report preparation for weekly and monthly KPI’s and other performance measurement benchmarks
• Assistance with payroll processing within our group of companies
• Assist with creating efficient accounting processes within our group of companies
• Assist with the preparation of monthly reports for HST, Fuel Tax and WCB filings

The successful candidate will have demonstrated:

• Ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• High attention to detail
• Experience in a computerized environment
• Ability to learn and use various computer applications
• Experience with Sage software will be an asset

Education:

• University/college certificate/diploma or 1-2 years equivalent experience
